On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings for 20 minutes the entire High School gathers in a religious assembly in the quadrangle or auditorium. The programme is sometimes a presentation by a student organization or a student musical performance, sometimes a talk by the principal or another faculty member, and sometimes a talk or performance by an outside speaker or artist. On Tuesday at the same time students remain in their Form Rooms with their Form Teacher and prefect for S.Q.U.I.R.T., an acronym for Student Quiet Uninterrupted Individual Reading Time. Students and teachers are encouraged to bring an interesting novel and read for 20 minutes. And on Thursday morning students again remain in their Form Rooms, but for a more spiritual/uplifting devotion period.
The daily schedule provides ten periods, which permits classes to last for a single, 30 minutes, or a double, 60 minutes, lesson. But in a typical day, students would have only five double lessons, with most subjects having double periods that meet three times a week. Most lower school students at Queen's College High School take 10 subjects each term, while most upper school students take 11 subjects. All courses run for the entire school year.
