Last year, we were pleased to reinstitute two scholarships here at Queen’s College: the Queen’s College Full Merit Scholarship and the Queen’s College Sports Scholarship.  Last year’s applicants were highly qualified and the selection process was indeed a difficult one. These scholarships will be offered again this year and we expect competition for them to be similarly fierce.  We were also encouraged by the number of churches and community organizations which have sponsored partial scholarships for deserving young persons in the community to attend Queen’s College.

Our application forms are available from our High School Office between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.  All applications need to be completed and returned with supporting documents to our Accounts Office before the deadline of 16th January, 2007 in order for students to be eligible to sit the examination. 

CRITERIA:

Applicants must meet the following criteria and submit the required documents listed below:

• Full-time enrollment in a Public Primary School or High School

• Minimum GPA of 3.0 (if applicable) on a 4.0 scale, which must be maintained

• Submit the Queen’s College application form

• Submit a scholarship application form (this will include an essay and request other pertinent information)

• Recommendation Form from current school principal or Guidance Counsellor

• Outstanding performance on the Queen’s College entrance test

• In reference to the the Sports Scholarship, proof of outstanding performance in one or more athletic areas must be provided.

• Be a citizen of The Bahamas

The purpose of the Queen's College scholarship programme is to identify and support well-rounded students who combine academic promise with character. A typical scholarship candidate would be a student who constantly ranks in the top 10% of his/her class, participates in extra-curricular activities in and out of school, possess a sound character, is hardworking and committed, and is not afraid to be stretched academically.
