We
invite all parents and teachers to become actively involved
with the PTA. Your participation brings new talents, ideas,
and enthusiasm to the activities we sponsor. Children love to
see their parents participate in school activities.
Please
visit our PTA Calendars page frequently to stay informed of
upcoming activities and ways to help our school.
The PTA
at Queens College is a very active part of the school
family. Our goal is to help students, families, and staff
members make our school the best it can be. The PTA consists
of parents and teachers who volunteer their time and talents
to help organize various activities throughout the
school year. The PTA helps bring assemblies, equipment, field
trips, and special programs to our children each year.
Membership is open to all parents/guardians of students
enrolled in school.

PTA
COMMITTEES
Our PTA
has many opportunities throughout the year for you to assist
our teachers and students.
We are
fortunate to have parents actively involved with the
educational process of our children. We have many parents that
volunteer their time and talents to the special events and
services sponsored by the PTA.
Please
browse our committee pages to see where you can make a
contribution.
You
can make a difference!
The PTA
is organized into numerous committees. Parent volunteers are
needed to chair each committee.
All
committees have the option for two people to become
co-chairpersons to reduce the workload.
Some of
the committees require more time than others. Some are
ongoing throughout the year such as The Annual Steak-Out &
Fair, and NEWLY FORMED BOYS CLUBS.
Others
are once a year events such as The Annual Walk-a-thon,
Teacher’s Appreciation, Movie Night, School Production.
Please
consider volunteering to help with a committee. Many hands
make the workload much lighter for all.
Volunteers are not limited to just "moms". Dads,
grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors, etc are all welcome to
be a part of the committees. The more volunteers we have the
more the PTA will be able to accomplish for our children. If
you have been involved with the PTA in the past, we thank you
for your participation and look forward to working with you
again.
If you
are new to the PTA, we wish to welcome you and thank you for
your time and talents that will benefit our students.
We would
like to thank you in advance for volunteering to help the PTA
reach its goals.

AIM
The Parent Teacher Association aims to foster good
relationships between all parts of the school community. All
parents and teachers are automatically members of the
Association. The PTA is responsible for organizing
fund-raising and social activities and for inviting visiting
speakers to address parents on topics of educational interest.
PURPOSE
The PTA is
very active at Queens College. This association provides many
opportunities for parents to network with each other, with the
teaching staff, and with the school’s principal for ELC,
primary and high school. The PTA sponsors many programs such
as holiday activities, school-wide assemblies, and field
trips, as well as providing the funds for special purchases
such as playground equipment. Becoming active in the PTA
allows parents to take part in their children's educational
experience.
The Queen’s
College PTA is a local unit organized under the authority of
the Methodist Church.
The objectives of the Queens College
PTA, as directed by the Methodist church PTA are:
-
Promote
the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community
and place of worship.
-
Raise the
standards of home life.
-
Secure
adequate laws for the care and protection of children and
youth.
-
Bring
into closer relation the home and the school, that parents
and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of
children and youth.
-
Develop
between educators and the general public such united efforts
as will secure of all children and youth the highest
advantages in physical, mental, social and spiritual
education.
The Queens College PTA plans to meet these objectives by:
 |
Continuing to raise funds for such things as field trips,
computer equipments, building of the pavilion |
 |
New
chairs for the auditorium, assisting the school with
completion of the new school cafeteria with and classroom
supplies. |
 |
Developing and implementing special programs such as Read
Across Bahamas, Development of the Boys club. |
 |
Tracking parent issues and working with the school and
school board for a resolution. |
