The present make up of the Queen's College Mathematic Programme is as follows:

Grade 7  (4 periods per week)

There are four classes set in mixed-ability groups based upon Form Room assignments. Grade 7 students follow the national B.J.C. Mathematics syllabus in this two-year course that will end will the students sitting the BJC Mathematics Examination in June 2005.

Grade 8 (6 periods per week)

There are 5 groups of Math students in this year. One group took the BJC exam in Grade 7 in June 2003. Students who received an 'A' the BJC are presently following the BCGSE Mathematics syllabus and will sit the Core exam in May 2004 and antipated to sit the Extended exam in May 2005 in Grade 9.  The other four groups in Grade 8 will continue with the BJC syllabus and sit the exam in June 2004.

Grade 9 (6 periods per week)

There are four Math groups in Grade 9. These groups comprise of two class-sets that are reviewing the BJC syllabus to re-sit the exam in June 2004 in order to improve on the grade that they received in their BJC exam in Grade 8.  The other two class-sets are students who received favourable passes in the BJC exam,  are now following the BCGSE syllabus and will take the Core BCGSE exam in May 2004.

Grade 10 (6 periods per week)

All students in Grade 10 are presently following the BCGSE syllabus. Two groups already took the Core level exam in Grade 9 and are therefore presently following the BGCSE Extended programme. The other two groups are following the BGCSE Core programme.

Grade 11 (6 periods per week)

Within this year group there is one Math class made up of students who took the Extended BGCSE Math exam in Grade 10 and received favourable passes. These students are now following the AS-level Pure Mathematics programme with the anticipation of receiving a full A-level certificate in Math at the end of Grade 12. These students will also sit the Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus and SAT 2 examinations in Grade 12.

 

Another who sat the BGCSE Core level examination and received favourable passes are following the Extended programme and will sit the exam in June 2004, while the two remaining groups are following the Core level programme and will sit the Core Math exam in June 2004.

Grade 12 (6 periods per week)

This year group is made up of a mixture of class sets that are either retaking the Core or Extended level examinations this year. Students within this year group who have already taken the Extended Math exam are being prepared to sit the SAT 2 exam this year.
